The inspiration behind Jiutang is drawn from the mountainous landscape that surrounds the company. The designer, Jiu Tang Ai, introduces deconstruction into the design, decomposing mountains and rocks to reform a large area of geometry and oblique lines. This approach allows the concrete mountain scenery outside the window and the abstract interior to form a continuous integration. The space is endowed with a spatial sense in line with the company's brand positioning, achieved through the texture of nature and the lighting effect.
Jiutang is an interior design case for the headquarters of a large design company. The interior space is designed to accommodate more than 200 designers and receive customers and business partners with diverse backgrounds. The designer adopts various design languages to construct a simple and comfortable work area, as well as a business area displaying the brand image. The goal is to create a proper sense of ceremony and unique fashion temperament.
The office space is not only a company's workspace but also the company's image carrier. The designer customizes the design language to achieve a balance between functionality and aesthetics according to the client company's brand positioning and the characteristics of the customer base. To maximize the utilization of space, the whole area is divided into three parts: a reception hall, workspace for designers, and a business negotiation area.
The designer utilizes a series of lights to create a spatial atmosphere. The luminous ceiling in the reception hall is formed by point light sources which can transform with the background music. Alongside the entry path, there are two laser lights extending from the wall to the ceiling and penetrating each other with the wall geometry, forming a vivid sense of spatial rhythm and a moderate sense of ceremony.
The design started in April 2018 and ended in May 2018. The construction starts in April 2018 in Chongqing and ended in January 2019. The address of the project is Xiangmi Lake, Futian downtown core, Shenzhen city, Guangdong province. The design positioning for large office space, the balance between functionality requirements and aesthetic expression in space, and the application of deconstruction in interior design were some of the key research areas for this project.
As an office space for a design firm, there are plenty of modern design options, but avoiding excessive design according to the requirements is the biggest challenge for the designer. The designer chooses "mountain" with the most reliable characteristics as the theme design element and employs appropriate design techniques. Through the expression of the space theme, the designer creates a company image worthy of trust with sufficient professional competence and space atmosphere in line with the image of the company.
